'Buy' 5 years in prison for 80 thousand dong

(Baonghean.vn)- Buying 6 packages of heroin for 80 thousand VND, Tan was arrested by the police and sentenced to prison.

On October 26, the People's Court of Ky Son district opened the first instance trial of the case of Lo Van Tan (born 1982), residing in Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district, prosecuted for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".

According to the indictment, at about 8:00 p.m. on July 21, 2017, Lo Van Tan walked into the C5 plantation area in Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district to buy drugs. When arriving, Tan met and bought from a man named Hai 06 packages of heroin for 80,000 VND (eighty thousand dong).

After buying the heroin, Tan went home and took out two packages to use, and kept the rest hidden on his person. At about 2:10 p.m. on July 22, while Tan was at home, he was discovered by the Ky Son District police task force and caught red-handed, confiscating all the heroin.

At the conclusion of the forensic examination of the Nghe An Provincial Police Department, it was concluded that the white substance sample collected from Lo Van Tan was heroin.

At the trial, defendant Lo Van Tan confessed and admitted all his crimes.

Based on the documents in the case file, the proceedings at the trial and the prosecutor's opinion, the Trial Panel sentenced Lo Van Tan to 05 years in prison for the above crime.

Defendant Lo Van Tan had two previous convictions for drug crimes. However, after being released from prison, he refused to "reform" and continued to commit new crimes, so this is considered a severe sentence for the defendant.
