Heavy rain causes landslides and flooded roads in western Nghe An, Chau Thang hydropower plant announces flood discharge
(Baonghean.vn) - In the past 24 hours, up to the evening of August 3, some mountainous districts of Nghe An recorded hours of rain. Although the amount of rain was not heavy, many sections of road were affected by landslides.

In the communeMuong Tip and Muong Ai (Ky Son), where a major flood killed two people in 2018, is now also experiencing landslides at the border between the two communes.
In fact, the landslide appeared on August 31, and rocks and soil have now spilled onto the road, making it almost impossible to travel by motorbike.
Mr. Cut Pho Hon - Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Ai commune informed more: There has been rain in the area since early morning of August 3, and it has not stopped yet.

Heavy rains also occurred in Que Phong and Quy Chau districts. In Chau Tien commune (Quy Chau), the authorities have banned people from traveling to a spillway that is often flooded. Chau Thang Hydropower Plant has announced that it will release floodwaters at midnight tonight.
Since early afternoon of August 3, the Hoa Tien spillway bridge (Quy Chau) has been flooded and impassable. The local government has dispatched forces such as militia and police to stand guard on both sides of the bridge to prevent people from crossing.

Mr. Sam Thanh Hoai - Vice Chairman of Chau Tien Commune People's Committee added that the local government received a phone notification from Chau Thang Hydropower Plant (upstream of Chau Tien Commune) that it would release flood water at midnight on August 3.
A representative of Chau Thang Hydropower Plant said that at around 0:00 on August 4, it will release floodwater with an expected water volume of 70m3 - 700m3 per second.
