Buying explosives to sell for profit, sentenced to 15 months in prison

On October 27, the People's Court of Quy Hop district opened a criminal trial against defendant Nguyen Van Vinh (born in 1980, residing in Tan Mung hamlet, Tam Hop commune) for the crime of "Illegal storage and transportation of explosives".

According to the indictment, at about 8:40 p.m. on June 26, 2017, at Tam Hop commune, working group Team 3, Nghe An Provincial Police Department's Environmental Police Department coordinated with Quy Hop Police to catch Nguyen Van Vinh red-handed illegally transporting 70 explosives weighing 14.5 kg; 10 aluminum-shelled electric detonators and 88 burning detonators, and 6 meters of slow-burning wire.

During the investigation, Vinh confessed that on June 22, 2017, a man with an unknown name and age came to Vinh to ask to buy 7 bags of explosives, detonators, and slow-burning fuses for 300,000 VND per bag, and 6,000 VND per detonator. Vinh agreed to buy them for him.

After 2 visits to Tho Hop commune, Vinh saw 4-5 workers on their way to make stone, so he bought explosives twice for a total of more than 2.2 million VND. On the evening of October 27, Vinh took a motorbike to transport the above explosives to the meeting point at the intersection of Nam Son hamlet (Tam Hop) to deliver them to customers, but was caught red-handed by the authorities.

Searching Vinh's house, the police seized another 11 meter long coil of slow-burning wire, which Vinh had been given 2 years ago.

Considering Vinh's behavior is dangerous to society, violating the state management regime on explosives. The panel sentenced Nguyen Van Vinh to 15 months in prison, suspended and with a probationary period of 30 months.
