Nguyen Thi Minh Hang, Director of the Multilateral Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on July 15 that in 2 months of active and drastic efforts to carry out vaccine diplomacy, as of July 12, Vietnam had received about 8 million doses of vaccine. In the future, the number of vaccines transferred to Vietnam will be greater, from negotiated sources.
The Moderna vaccine, also known as Spikevax, uses the same mRNA technology as Pfizer and was approved by the WHO on April 30. This vaccine is 90% effective in preventing the disease. Each 0.5 ml dose of the vaccine contains 100 mcg of mRNA and is prepared as a suspension for intramuscular injection. The packaging is a box containing 10 multi-dose vials; each multi-dose vial contains 10 doses of 0.5 ml.
According to research by American scientists, the Moderna vaccine is highly effective against the Delta variant, originating from India.
In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health has conditionally approved Moderna's vaccine to serve urgent needs in disease prevention and control./.
