America lost direction before Su-57's electronic warfare

While the US does not understand anything about the Khibiny TCĐT system, Russia continues to launch a new, more modern system for the Su-57, making its opponents worried.

Information about Russia developing a new electronic warfare system (ECS) called Himalaya was announced by Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov. To enhance the electronic countermeasures capabilities of the 5th generation fighter Su-57, Moscow is developing the Himalaya system with a completely different design from the current Khibiny.

According to this source, the biggest difference between Khibiny and Himalaya is that Khibiny is designed as a container hanging under the wing, occupying a certain suspension point, while Himalaya is fully integrated into the aircraft and is manufactured as individual parts of the aircraft skin. Therefore, it does not affect the weapons carrying capacity of the equipped aircraft.

The special feature of the Himalaya system is that it was researched and produced by Russian engineers according to the "smart shell" principle and allows it to perform many tasks simultaneously: reconnaissance, electronic warfare, positioning...

The strength of the Himalaya system is that it has the ability to passively and actively jam modern missiles, as well as radar stations.

Despite its huge differences from the Khibiny system, most information about the Himalaya system is still kept secret by Russia.

According to Deputy Minister Yuri Borisov, this new electronic warfare system developed to be integrated into the 5th generation fighter Su-57 has completed final tests.

Russian military sources revealed that once put into service, the Su-57 fighter with the Himalaya system can operate with the features of the current large-sized specialized electronic jamming aircraft of the Russian Air Force.

Meanwhile, according to the Deputy General Director of Kret Company - Mr. Vladimir Mikheev - the manufacturer of Khibiny, this system has the shape of a small torpedo attached to the wingtip of the aircraft, making these aircraft invulnerable to all modern enemy combat vehicles and defense systems.

Once the crew receives a missile attack warning, Khibiny is activated and covers the fighter jets with electronic protection to prevent the missile from reaching the target and make it deviate from its course. Khibiny increases the aircraft's survivability by 25-30 times.

So Khibiny is not inferior to Himalaya in terms of electronic countermeasures. However, while the new system is designed to be integrated into the aircraft, Khibiny is loyal to the rather old design when hanging externally.

And this is considered the first difference between these two state-of-the-art electronic warfare systems. The biggest difference that makes Russia spare no expense in developing Himalaya is that although Khibiny works quite effectively, this system can only protect the aircraft it is equipped with, while Himalaya with its special ability will protect the entire group of nearby fighter aircraft.

This is what worries the US most about the Su-57 fighter jet because with just the Khibiny system, in 2014, the Russian Su-24 completely disoriented the combat system on the US Aegis warship USS Donald Cook.
