"Military authorities in South Korea and the United States have held close consultations on the issue of joint military exercises that US President Donald Trump has promised to stop," - the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The defense ministers of the two countries will announce the results of the negotiations, - the source said.
The exercises will resume in case North Korea fails to respect its obligations to give up its nuclear weapons.
On June 12, the first-ever US-North Korea Summit took place in Singapore. After the summit, US President Donald Trump announced that he intended to stop "inappropriate and costly" military exercises with South Korea.
