US asks Russia, Syria to stop sending fighter jets into war zones
According to Mr. Kerry, stopping those missions is the last chance to save a collapsing ceasefire agreement and find a way out of the current "killing" in Syria.

Secretary Kerry faced Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the UN Security Council in New York – an event that was televised – saying the bombing of an aid convoy in Syria raised “deep doubts about whether Russia and the Assad regime are able and willing to abide by their obligations” under the ceasefire.
Speaking in front of Mr Kerry, Mr Lavrov told the 15-member Security Council: “It is necessary to restrain emotions, avoid hasty comments on the microphone about something. It is necessary to investigate the attack on the aid convoy.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Kerry said that listening to what Mr. Lavrov said made him feel like the two of them were living in two "parallel" worlds.
“To restore credibility to this process, we must work to halt all aircraft from flying in key areas to de-escalate the situation and allow for continued humanitarian assistance,” said Secretary Kerry.
The aim of the US-Russia ceasefire – which came into effect on September 12 – is to facilitate aid access to besieged areas and enable the two countries to jointly attack IS jihadists.
More than 300,000 Syrians have been killed and half of Syria's 22 million population displaced since the Syrian civil war broke out in 2011. IS has seized large swaths of territory.
