At the working session with Nafoods Group, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De highly agreed with the plan to expand the development planning, establish and standardize the raw material area code of Nafoods in Nghe An to enhance the brand value of agricultural products, gradually meeting the requirements of sustainable development of the agricultural sector in the new situation.
Good news for pineapple plants
Early February, Nafoods Passion Fruit Joint Stock Company (under Nafoods Group) and Tuan An Agricultural Products Company Limited joined hands to implementPineapple raw material area development projectat Tam Hop village, Tri Le commune, Que Phong district.
This project is an important step in the strategy of developing Nafoods's key fruit material areas in Nghe An and the Northwest region. Not only aiming for economic efficiency, the parties also focus on developing sustainable projects according to three pillars: economy, society and environment.
This step is a continuation of Nafoods' journey of sustainable development of pineapple raw material areas, when Nafoods previously signed a memorandum of understanding with the People's Committees of 3 communes: Quynh Chau, Tan Thang, Quynh Thang to develop more than 2,000 hectares of Cayen pineapple with more than 100 households.

At the meeting, Nafoods representative proposed to the provincial leaders that the Company wishes to expand its development planning.Establish and standardize pineapple raw material area codesin 3 communes: Tan Thang, Quynh Thang, Quynh Chau and districts in Western Nghe An from 3,000 ha to 5,000 ha. Implementation roadmap until 2030, associated with expanding the scale of production and processing at the factory from 200 tons/day to 1,000 tons/day.

Agreeing with the company's recommendations and proposals, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested that the company urgently start implementing and proposing the scale and area to expand the production area and factory according to the development plan.
He affirmed that the province as well as related departments and branches will create conditions for the company to establish and standardize the growing area code to control the traceability of raw materials. Comrade Nguyen Van De requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to soon issue a plan on building growing areas to ensure conditions for exporting crops in the province, including pineapple; giving priority to building factories right in Quynh Luu district.
Enhancing the value of agricultural products from the OTAS system and standards
Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang - Deputy Director of Nafoods Passion Fruit Joint Stock Company said that Nafoods is implementing a long-term development plan to increase the value of the agricultural supply chain from Nghe An province and other regions of Vietnam. This development plan focuses on standardizing growing area codes, enhancing brand value and ensuring compliance with international requirements.

The planning, development, establishment and standardization of growing area code data is capable of controlling traceability and authenticating the origin of pineapple and other fruit growing areas in Que Phong district and other western districts of Nghe An. The estimated area to be deployed is about 10,000 hectares.
In particular, the process of building models and plans to standardize data on growing area codes, packaging facility codes, parent garden codes, seedling production area codes, management and supply that Nafoods implements will apply the OTAS system and standards. The process has the participation and supervision of farmers, cooperatives, local authorities and specialized management agencies as well as Nafoods' international partners.

The OTAS system and standards are standards that can trace and authenticate the origin of products, including agricultural products, upstream and downstream. Authentication according to the OTAS system and standards is a condition for negotiating technical barriers with current exporting and importing countries.
Participating in this process, farmers will be trained and coached to raise awareness in good agricultural practices and good plant protection practices when participating in planting area codes and seed production areas supported by state and provincial support programs.

It can be seen that the plan to build a supply chain for agricultural and forestry products, medicinal herbs, and medicinal herbs under the forest canopy and traceability activities applying the OTAS system and standards of Nafoods not only helps increase the value of agricultural products but also contributes to environmental protection and sustainable development for the agricultural sector.
This is the optimal method for Nafoods to continue developing modern technological solutions, improving product quality and ensuring compliance with international standards, contributing to enhancing the brand of Nghe An agricultural products in particular and Vietnam in general in the international market.
