In 2017, Nghe An Police organized more than 31,000 traffic patrols, recorded more than 110,000 administrative violations. Of these, nearly 40,000 were car drivers, more than 69,000 were motorbike drivers. The rest were electric motorbikes, electric bicycles, and homemade vehicles. More than 108,000 cases later complied with the penalty decision, transferring nearly 82 billion VND to the State budget.
Assessing at the conference, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien said that serious traffic accidents still occurred frequently in the past year, especially in some districts such as Thanh Chuong and Quy Hop. "Why did a motorbike violating traffic laws by carrying 3 people from Tuong Duong district to Ro bridge (Thanh Chuong) causing an accident that killed 3 people, but no one handled the situation on the way through several districts like that?", the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked and suggested that localities need to step up patrols and controls to minimize accidents.

In addition, according to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the situation of encroachment and violation of traffic safety corridors is still complicated; many roads after being cleared continue to be encroached upon again, especially in Vinh City.
Concluding the conference, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong highly appreciated a number of results achieved in 2017. "It must be affirmed that, last year, the tasks of ensuring traffic safety and clearing violations of traffic safety corridors were deployed synchronously by the entire political system with high determination and carried out seriously."

However, the head of the provincial People's Committee said that despite such efforts and determination, the requirements have not yet been met; many problems still exist and are limited, such as the number of serious accidents, the situation of re-encroachment on sidewalks, etc.
“Based on the analysis of the above shortcomings, we need to overcome them immediately. I suggest that sectors and localities review whether they have done their best in the past year and met the requirements. We need to look back and develop specific plans and programs for effective implementation in 2018,” Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong directed./.
