In 2020, there are over 500,000 university admission targets.
According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2020, the total university admission quota will increase by about 10% compared to 2019, about over 500,000 quotas.
Regarding the use of the 2020 high school graduation exam results for university admissions, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said that after the Ministry announced the sample exam, most universities still used the exam results for admissions because the exam still ensured a certain level of differentiation. Some schools combined it with considering academic records and some other methods.
In 2020, the total university admission quota will increase by about 10% compared to 2019, about 500,000 quotas. The top schools with high competition have less than 10% of their enrollment quotas. Therefore, if candidates have good exam results, the opportunity to enter university is very open.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends that universities, with their autonomy in enrollment, should also reserve some quotas for candidates with high exam scores but have not yet passed the entrance exam to their favorite schools or majors, creating maximum conditions for capable candidates to have the opportunity to study according to their wishes," said Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc.
According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do, this year's exam continues the spirit of "what you learn, what you test", testing comprehensive knowledge, avoiding rote learning, biased learning, ensuring honesty, and comparing high school exam results with transcripts.
This year, the exam has many new features, especially not organizing for university lecturers to participate in proctoring the exam locally (in previous years, about 50,000 staff and lecturers were mobilized).
Each exam room has 2 invigilators from 2 different high schools; each teacher invigilates no more than 1 time/exam room.
From experience in previous years, the Ministry of Education and Training has completed a number of new points in the stages of organizing local exams related to printing exam papers, invigilation, arranging exam rooms, numbering registration numbers, grading exams, etc.
