(Baonghean.vn) - In 2021, Nghe An's aquaculture output reached more than 63,000 tons, the value of aquatic product production in the year is estimated at over 2,100 billion VND, equal to 107.89% compared to 2020.
On the morning of January 8, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to review aquaculture in 2021 and deploy tasks and solutions for implementation in 2022. According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2021, in the context of complicated weather and Covid-19 pandemic, the product consumption market encountered many difficulties, affecting seed production as well as commercial farming in all forms of farming.
However, the aquaculture area ofNghe Anreached 23,046 hectares, equal to 107.19% of the plan and 107.31% compared to 2020. Of which, the freshwater farming area reached 20,396 hectares, the brackish water farming area reached 2,650 hectares.

Outputaquaculturereached more than 63,000 tons, equal to 109.41% compared to 2020. Of which, freshwater farming output reached 49,800 tons, brackish water farming reached 13,484 tons. Shrimp seed production and rearing reached 2 billion 457 million, equal to 116.5% compared to 2020. Fish seed production of all kinds reached 680 million, equal to 100% compared to 2020.
The value of aquatic product production in the year is estimated at over 2,100 billion VND, equal to 107.89% compared to 2020.
MuchmodelAquaculture applied by farmers brings high economic efficiency such as shrimp farming in many stages in Hoang Mai town, Dien Chau district; models of raising black apple snails, snakehead fish, eels... in Yen Thanh and Quynh Luu districts.
However, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also found that the efficiency of aquaculture production is not high, especially in shrimp and tilapia farming. Due to frequent occurrence of diseases in aquatic animals; some farming households have not strictly complied with disease declaration, epidemic prevention, disinfection, and detoxification before and after disease outbreaks; infrastructure has degraded, some farming areas have silted up the supply canal system and do not have separate supply and drainage canals...

Speaking at the conference, representatives of localities, organizations and individuals raising aquatic products requested the relevant agencies to increase support for training in aquaculture techniques for people in the highlands. All levels and sectors are interested in calling for businesses to invest in aquaculture, especially new aquaculture species, associated with processing and consumption. Build fish hatcheries in highland districts. Create conditions for individuals and groups to lease land for many years to invest in aquaculture.
In 2022, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to expandaquaculture area21,500 ha. Of which, freshwater farming area is 19,000 ha; brackish water farming area is 2,500 ha; aquaculture output reaches 63,000 tons; shrimp seed production: 2.4 billion; fish seed production of all kinds: 850 million.
Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to direct resolutely to complete the plan. In particular, focusing on applying farming technology to increase farming output; developing aquatic specialties on large lakes. For brackish water farming, the focus is on white-leg shrimp.
