Male teacher pushed neighbor to death because of professional insult
(Baonghean.vn) - Having been repeatedly cursed and insulted by neighbors, To Van Tri pushed the victim to the ground, causing his death. At the trial, the defendant shed tears many times and apologized to the victim's family.
On November 29, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant To Van Tri (born 1980), residing in Ly Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, for the crime of"Killing". Tri is a teacher, working at a secondary school in Yen Thanh district. The victim in the case is the defendant's neighbor, Mr. NVM.
Before that, at around 7:30 p.m. on May 31, 2022, after returning from a trip, To Van Tri heard Mr. M. cursing and insulting him, so he climbed over the wall. Seeing Mr. M. walking from the house to the alley, Tri walked over and pushed him hard in the back, causing him to fall down.
Seeing the victim lying on the ground, Tri grabbed his hand and pulled him up, then let go, causing Mr. M. to hit his head on the hard floor. Tri continued to grab Mr. M.'s hand and pull him up. Seeing his neighbor cower, Tri let go, causing the victim to continue hitting his head on the hard floor. After that, Tri went home.
The victim died of a fractured skull. After learning of Mr. M's death, To Van Tri turned himself in to the police.

At the trial, the defendant admitted his crime. The defendant stated that he was upset that Mr. M. often got drunk and cursed at his relatives and neighbors, including Tri's family. Mr. M. also repeatedly insulted To Van Tri's honor and career.
On the evening of the incident, the victim M. drank alcohol and cursed Tri. The long-standing resentment over the insult to his profession and honor led to the defendant not being able to control his actions.
After the incident, the defendant influenced the family to compensate the victim's family appropriately. At the trial, the victim's legal representative asked for a reduced sentence for the defendant.
In his final words, the defendant bowed his head, choked up, apologized to the victim's family, and asked the court to consider reducing his sentence.
The panel of judges determined that in this case, the defendant had mitigating circumstances such as honestly confessing, repenting, influencing the family to compensate the victim's representative, the family had contributed to the revolution, and achieved many achievements during his work... Considering the case as a whole, the court sentenced the defendant To Van Tri to 6 years in prison for the crime of "Murder".
