It is expected that in the Lunar New Year 2023, the number of people receiving Tet bonuses of up to hundreds of millions will not be many. For the majority, the Tet bonus is equivalent to 1-2 months' salary.

Announce Tet bonuses early so workers don't worry

2022 is expected to be a year of many changes for both businesses and workers. In the first months of the year, factories recruited a lot and offered high salaries. However, from June onwards, the situation changed, companies limited recruitment and there were not many new jobs at the end of the year. Therefore, workers are worried that they will not have Tet bonuses.

According to Vtv.vn, at Hung Yen Garment Corporation, the concept of "office hours" has never existed, but now workers at this company are experiencing it. Many people feel unfamiliar with not having to work overtime at the end of the year. The company has proactively announced the Tet bonus early so that workers do not worry.

For the textile, garment and footwear industry, the end of this year is extremely difficult, most factories have to lay off workers.

"This year's Tet bonus is the same as every year, not lower because there is less work," said Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, a worker at Hung Yen Garment Corporation.

Despite facing many difficulties, Hung Yen Garment Corporation still decided to give its employees a Tet bonus equal to 2 months of average income. Compared to last year, this bonus increased by 10% due to salary increase.

Textiles, footwear: Tet bonuses higher than last year

For the textile, garment and footwear industry, the end of this year is extremely difficult, most factories have to lay off workers. However, in general, the industry's export turnover still exceeds the target and workers' salaries are adjusted to increase. The industry's Tet bonus still has remarkable growth compared to last year.

"The average salary in the first 11 months of the year increased by about 5-7%. This year, workers will receive at least a one-month salary bonus," said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Vice President of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Xuan, Vice President of the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association, businesses in the industry are committed to ensuring benefits for workers, especially Tet bonuses.

This year, despite a decline in orders, businesses still maintain a 5-6% increase in 13th month salary compared to last year.

In general, the Tet bonus level will decrease, especially in small and medium enterprises.

Labor-intensive industries, which are the country’s main export industries, still give Tet bonuses to their employees. The basic bonus level is higher than last year. But in the entire labor market, Tet bonuses will decrease, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said that in industries facing difficulties due to a decrease in orders as well as difficulties in the production process, it is expected that wages and bonuses will decrease. Some other industries are relatively stable.

This year's Tet bonus has been reduced by 15-20%. The number of people receiving bonuses as high as hundreds of millions will not be many. For the majority, the Tet bonus is equivalent to 1-2 months' salary./.
