Brave 5th grade boy saves drowning kindergarten child
(Baonghean.vn) - Hearing the cries of the children on the shore, Dung quickly swam out and struggled with the current to save the child from death and bring him safely to shore.
On the afternoon of May 8, while swimming with his friends in the Hoang Mai River through Quynh Di ward, Nguyen Quang Dung - a 5th grade student at Quynh Di Primary School, Hoang Mai town, heard cries for help from children on the shore.
Looking out, Dung saw a child struggling in the water. There were some other children on the shore but none of them knew how to swim so they just stood there shouting. Dung quickly jumped into the water to save the child.
Due to his small stature, Dung struggled with the water for a while before he could bring the child to shore. At that time, the child was foaming at the mouth and turning purple. Hearing the cries for help, a local resident ran to the scene, provided first aid and took the child to the hospital for emergency treatment.

The hospital nurse said the child was brought in at 5:18 p.m. with purple lips, difficulty breathing, and a tense abdomen. Doctors performed fluid drainage and emergency measures. The child is now out of danger and is being monitored and treated.
It is known that the baby who was just rescued is Nguyen Duc Minh, 5 years old, son of Nguyen Van Nghia and Van Thi Huong, residing in Yen Ninh block, Quynh Di ward.
