Hot weather, forest fire broke out and spread in Nam Dan

In Nam Kim commune, a forest fire broke out at 12 noon this afternoon in Khe Lau hamlet. This place is about 4-5 km from residential areas, and is located on a high mountain, so it is quite difficult to approach and put out the fire. In addition, due to the strong sun and wind, the fire spread quickly and widely, making it very difficult to control the fire.

Upon receiving the news, Nam Kim commune mobilized more than 300 people including militia, police, officials from departments, unions, hamlet officials to coordinate with local people, Nam Dan district forest rangers... to actively fight the fire.

At the scene, the forces mainly focused on raking dry leaves, cutting trees, making runways, zoning firebreaks, and isolating large fires. Using blowers and tree branches to extinguish small fires...

After many hours of struggling with the fire in the hot sun, by 3:00 p.m., the forest fire in Nam Kim commune was temporarily controlled by the forces.

In Khanh Son commune, a forest fire broke out at 11:20 a.m. in Khe Su area, hamlet 16. This is the border between Nam Kim commune (Nam Dan) and Son Tien commune (Huong Son - Ha Tinh), where many large fires have occurred in recent days.

Khanh Son Commune People's Committee mobilized all forces: commune officials, 29 hamlets and local people, with the support of Dai Hue forestry force to participate in fire fighting, with the main means being blowers, fire brooms, tree branches, pumps...

Due to strong sunlight and wind, the forest fire in hamlet 16 flared up, became fierce, spread quickly, and created thick smoke, not only making it difficult to control the fire, but also threatening the firefighting forces.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thien Tin - Captain of Khanh Son Commune, who is directly participating in fighting the fire at the scene, said: "The fire in Hamlet 16 is spreading to many points, and is burning fiercely, so after many hours of fighting, specifically at 3:00 p.m., the local forces have not been able to control the fire. The fire is spreading and developing complicatedly."

It is known that during the recent hot days, in Nam Kim and Khanh Son communes, Nam Dan district, there were many large fires, sometimes lasting all night. Although the forces were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to residential areas, many areas of local forests, mainly pine, eucalyptus, and acacia forests, were burned down.
