According to local residents, the fire started at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon in the Ho Chuoi and Len Doi areas of Hamlet 3, Khanh Son Commune. This is the area bordering the resettlement area of ​​Thanh Lam Commune, Thanh Chuong District.

Like the previous days, the fire broke out in the strong sun and wind, spreading quickly, stretching over 1km, rising high, making it extremely difficult to put out. The local vegetation was knee-thick in places, and was dry and brittle, making the fire burn even more fiercely.

Upon receiving the news, Khanh Son commune mobilized a combined force of more than 200 people, including police, militia, officers from departments, organizations, and hamlet officials, in coordination with local people with the support of the army, to actively fight the fire.

Learning from experience after many times of dealing with fires in Khanh Son forest, today the neutral forces raked dry leaves, cut trees, and cleared firebreaks. After more than 3 hours, 400 - 500 m of firebreaks along the mountain slopes, about 20 m wide, were formed, contributing to effectively preventing the fire.

As of 6 p.m. this afternoon, the fire in Khanh Son forest has been temporarily controlled, many areas of pine, acacia, and eucalyptus trees continue to be burned. Another fire is still spreading to the forest in Thanh Lam commune, Thanh Chuong.
