Russia has developed a mobile scanner to detect weapons and drugs.
Russia has developed mobile scanners capable of detecting weapons, ammunition, drugs and explosives behind 30-centimeter-thick steel fences, said Sergei Simochko, production director of Skantronic Systems.
"To date, 13 mobile inspection complexes have been produced. They are installed at checkpoints at the Russian state border," he said.
According to Mr. Simochko, the equipment is designed to solve the problems of controlling goods and vehicles. The main feature of this equipment is that it can be placed on a chassis, which allows for quick movement to different inspection sites, - he said.
He also said that it takes less than half an hour to deploy a mobile unit from a vehicle to a work site. The equipment moves, while the vehicle remains stationary, and the device scans the vehicle with a fan-shaped X-ray beam. The high-definition radiometric image is displayed on a screen and then analyzed by the operators.
