Speaking at a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission, Mr. Putin said: "The main issue on our agenda is the creation of a new long-term national armaments program. The current program, which expires in 2027, was launched at the beginning of this year. This program integrates modern world trends into the development of military equipment and weapons, as well as the experience of using Russian weapons in combat operations in Syria."
According to Mr. Putin, for that reason, the Russian armed forces will be equipped with the latest weapons systems that far exceed the parameters of foreign counterparts. The Russian leader mentioned the Sarmat missile system, the Sukhoi-57 5th generation fighter, the Armata main battle tank, the S-500 air defense system and the Project 677 submarine.
The Russian President stated that what needs to be done now is to promote and initiate plans to create and develop new-generation weapons systems, which will shape the image of the Russian armed forces in the long term, for the coming decades./.
