Work on upgrading the Mi-28N helicopter began in 2009. The new version of the helicopter is now equipped with a modern radar system, control system and other equipment, and allows precision weapons on board to engage targets more effectively.
Russian Air Force Commander Viktor Bondarev said earlier that he had also confirmed that the new version of the Mi-28N helicopter would enter service with the military in 2018.
At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry also confirmed that a Northern Fleet submarine had successfully test-launched a Sineva intercontinental ballistic missile from the Bering Sea.
“The Sineva missile was launched from a submerged submarine. The missile warhead reached the Kura training ground in northern Russia at the set time,” a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry said. The ship’s crew had completed its mission and was combat-ready, the ministry added.
