Preventing the practice of 'hiding behind' gratitude to sell high-priced goods in Thanh Chuong
(Baonghean.vn) - Thanh Chuong District Police are verifying information about another group of local people coming to organize a "gratitude" event for a retired teacher but selling high-priced functional foods.
This morning (September 19), in Thanh Nho commune (Thanh Chuong), local authorities promptly prevented a number of cases of other locals coming to use the excuse of "showing gratitude" to retired teachers to pay their respects.high price sale.
Specifically, on the morning of September 19, the Association of Former Teachers of Thanh Nho, Thanh Lien, Thanh Hoa communes borrowed the Cultural House of Nho Tan hamlet (Thanh Nho commune) to organize a gratitude conference. This program had the participation of a group of people claiming to be sales staff of Saigon Pharmaceutical Trading Company Limited. This group of people drove a car with a license plate of Hoa Binh province (28), initially giving out gifts, then introducing and selling functional foods for health and stroke prevention.

Immediately after discovering the incident, Thanh Nho Commune Police invited this group of people to the headquarters to work, and at the same time reported to superiors to take measures to handle the matter according to regulations.
Mr. Tran Dinh Truyen - Chairman of Thanh Nho Commune People's Committee said: These individuals contacted the Association of Former Teachers and organized the Conference without going through the local authorities. When the local authorities knew about the incident and were present at the Nho Tan Hamlet Cultural House, they had already distributed gifts to about 30 people. The Commune People's Committee then assigned the police to verify and clarify, if there were signs of fraud, they would be handled according to regulations.

According to our research, the organization of the gratitude conference by this group of people has been going on for many days, in which in Thanh Lien commune, 18 people have spent money to buy products, some for nearly 3 million VND.
A leader of Thanh Chuong District Police said that through actual inspection, the products that this group brought were mainly functional foods and ginseng. However, because there are no specific regulations on these items, it is very difficult to handle. For now, Thanh Chuong District Police have asked people to return the goods and receive a refund.
Previously, in the communes and towns of Thanh Chuong district, there were some units and enterprises organizing conferences and seminars, but in reality, they introduced products and sold goods of unknown origin, unclear prices, no listed prices, etc., making it difficult for state management in communes and towns and disrupting security and order in the area. This is a problem that causes frustration not only for the people but also for the local government. Especially when the sales target the elderly, people in mountainous communes have limited awareness, and have difficulty distinguishing between fake and genuine goods.

Mr. Trinh Van Nha - Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee said: To strengthen the fight to prevent and combat multi-level marketing activities, Thanh Chuong District People's Committee has also warned local people to be vigilant against the sales tricks disguised as Conferences and Seminars.
According to Mr. Nha, the trick of selling fake and low-quality counterfeit goods disguised as seminars, product introductions with promotional gifts to entice people to buy is not a new trick, but many people in the localities still become victims.
"After the incident this morning, we have also assigned the District Police to urgently verify. At the same time, we have assigned local authorities and mass organizations to increase propaganda so that people understand better so as not to buy fake or poor quality goods. After all, the government cannot prohibit people from spending money to buy goods. The important thing is to help them raise awareness, to avoid being cheated when spending a lot of money but buying fake goods" - Mr. Nha added.
