Head coach Mai Duc Chung, who led the national women's team to excellent results in qualifying for the 2018 Asian Cup, said he continued to call up a number of players who had played in the qualifying round. "In this training session, I called up two new faces, including Pham Thi Tuoi from Ha Nam and young central defender Truong Thi Phung from Ho Chi Minh City."
The coaching staff of the National Women's Team is notable for the return of Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi, who recently helped the Ho Chi Minh City I Women's Football Team successfully defend the 2017 National Women's Football Championship. In addition to assistants Vu Ba Dong and Nguyen Thi Kim Hong, Head Coach Mai Duc Chung also decided to add Coach Doan Minh Hai (Than KSVN) to the coaching staff.
After the second leg of the 2017 National Women's Football Championship ended, the players had a month of rest before being called back to prepare for the important task in 2018. Head coach Mai Duc Chung said the team will have their first training session on the afternoon of January 3. "In the first week, my assistants and I will focus on physical training for the players. This physical training session will be much heavier than previous training sessions. The professional physical training, technical and tactical training and friendly matches will take place from January 10."
It is expected that the National Women's Team will have 2 to 3 friendly matches at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with young men's teams before going to China to participate in the Four Nations friendly tournament with the women's teams of Thailand, China and Columbia.
Evaluating this friendly tournament, Head Coach Mai Duc Chung said he was very pleased with the opponents of the Vietnamese women's team: "This is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese women's players to compete and gain experience when facing strong opponents in international tournaments. I would like to thank the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation for their attention and efforts in arranging this useful friendly training trip for the Vietnamese women's team to prepare for the 2018 Asian Cup Finals."
According to the plan, after the 2018 Lunar New Year holiday, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will regroup, enter the final stage and will have a training trip in Germany before arriving in Jordan to participate in the 2018 Women's Asian Cup Finals. It is expected that the Vietnamese women's team will play 2 friendly matches with 2 women's clubs Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim during the training trip in Germany.
