The authorities have administratively sanctioned 408 cases, transferring 276.6 million VND to the State Treasury. The driving licenses of 20 cases were revoked, and 99 cars and motorbikes were temporarily seized.
Accordingly, from August 1, 2016, more than 100 violations of the Traffic Law will have their penalties increased, many of which will be nearly doubled. Such as driving a motorbike in a zigzag pattern; driving in groups and exceeding the speed limit will be fined from 10 to 14 million VND.
Motorcyclists with blood alcohol levels exceeding the permitted level will be fined at least 3-4 million VND. For car drivers, the highest fine for this violation is 16-18 million VND (the current fine under Decree 171 is 10-15 million VND).
People driving motorbikes, scooters (including electric scooters), motorbike-like vehicles and scooter-like vehicles using umbrellas, mobile phones, audio devices... will be fined from 100,000 to 200,000 VND (the fine in Decree 171 is 60,000 to 80,000 VND).
The leader of the Traffic Police Department said that, in parallel with the fines, officers and soldiers participating in patrols and controls will also propagate and remind people of the new regulations on administrative fines in the field of road and railway traffic according to Decree 46 of the Government.
