(Baonghean.vn) - According to the report of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in the first 5 months of 2021 (from December 16, 2020 to May 15, 2021), there were 67 traffic accidents in the province, killing 55 people and injuring 38 people.

Compared to the same period in 2020, there were 15 fewer cases, 7 fewer deaths, and 12 fewer injuries.

The authorities organized 11,581 traffic patrols with 40,014 officers and soldiers participating, detecting and making administrative records of 34,198 traffic safety cases. Decisions were made to fine 31,279 cases, transferring to the treasury to collect fines of more than 33.4 billion VND. The Department of Transport Inspectorate inspected and made records to handle 1,326 violations, imposing fines of more than 4 billion VND.

Investment in developing transport infrastructure has been directed synchronously and resolutely, achieving many important results such as: completing and putting into use and officially holding the opening ceremony of Cua Hoi bridge connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.

Directing to speed up the progress of projects: Muong Xen - Ta Do - Khe Kien road section km26 - km46+500; upgrading and expanding National Highway 15A section km301+500 - km315+700 and km327+600 - km330; approved provincial, district and town roads; Vinh - Cua Lo route phase 1.

Through the journey monitoring device in the first 6 months of the year, 7,474 violations were detected, corrected, and handled, 1,775 vehicles were warned for speeding violations; 5,669 transport business vehicles were corrected for not transmitting data as prescribed.

In the first 5 months of the year, 1,676 new cars, 6,431 motorbikes, 696 electric motorbikes were registered. Thereby, the total number of vehicles currently managed is 144,649 cars; 1,729,504 motorbikes, 103,474 electric motorbikes. Compared to 2020, cars increased by 13%; motorbikes and motorbikes increased by 5.5%; electric motorbikes increased by 22.9%.

However, in the province, there have been a number of very serious traffic accidents that have killed and injured many people; some localities have seen an increase in traffic accidents such as: Tuong Duong, Nam Dan, Quy Hop, Thai Hoa, Nghi Loc, Tan Ky, Ky Son, Thanh Chuong.

State management in the field of transportation still has some shortcomings such as: vehicles crossing lanes and routes; buses that do not ensure service quality, speeding and causing traffic accidents; vehicles without transport licenses still operating to transport passengers in the area; vehicles running illegally, not on the right lane or route, stopping to pick up and drop off passengers in the wrong places...

The coordination between inspection, control and patrol forces is not tight and the area is not closed, so violations of traffic safety and order still occur frequently but have not been completely handled, especially the situation of oversized and overloaded vehicles, passenger vans running illegally, running on the wrong route, and vehicles not licensed to transport passengers still operating in the area still occurs in many places.

In the coming time, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will direct the mobilization of traffic police forces throughout the province to simultaneously and seriously implement patrols, controls, and handle violations according to the topic "Drivers on the road with drugs in their bodies, violating alcohol concentration" under the direction of the Ministry of Public Security.
