(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 489/BC-UBND to promptly report to the Prime Minister and the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on the developments and direction of response and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3, tropical depression and floods from July 13 to 17, 2018, as of 5:00 p.m. on July 20, 2018.

Accordingly, regarding the initial damage, through quick reports from 21/21 districts, cities, towns and units, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue summarized the damage up to 4:00 p.m. on July 20, 2018 as follows:
About people:1 person injured
House and property:14 houses collapsed; 1 house was swept away; 73 houses were eroded; 9 houses had to be relocated; 10 houses were damaged; 6 houses had their roofs blown off.
Education:14 schools affected; 14 schools; 3 classrooms damaged; 1 school kitchen damaged; 245 m of fence collapsed; 150 m speed2roof

Agriculture and forestry:14,360.0 hectares of rice and 6,744.1 hectares of corn and various vegetables were flooded; 1,466.6 hectares of annual crops were flooded; 1,688 hectares of industrial crops and perennial fruit trees were flooded; 141 hectares of forest were broken.
Animal husbandry:33 livestock (buffalo, cow, calves, pigs); 3,190 poultry damaged.
Seafood:flooded 2,943.3 hectares.
Traffic:landslide 36,186 km, sedimentation 11,168.8 m3local roads; 3 bridges washed away, 8 bridges damaged; 6 temporary bridges washed away, damaged; 6 spillways washed away, damaged.

Key tasks the province has been and is implementing:Organize serious on-duty staff, closely monitor the developments of floods and rains, and increase information to authorities at all levels and people;
Closely monitor the development of post-storm floods to proactively evacuate and relocate residents in low-lying coastal areas, river mouths, areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, and downstream areas of dams according to scenarios developed in the provincial and local disaster prevention plans to ensure safety of people and property.

Statistics on damage caused by storms and floods. Focus on handling traffic jams caused by landslides caused by rain. Provide traffic guidance and ensure safety for people in flooded areas, streams, and ferry terminals.
Visit affected families, help people repair their houses, stabilize their lives, clean the environment, disinfect, and prevent epidemics.
Implement plans to ensure safety of dikes and dams, especially for projects under construction and incidents that occurred in 2017.
Check the safety and operation of works in irrigation systems, proactively drain water in accordance with the situation of each locality; have plans to retain water to serve Summer-Autumn production.
Standing rescue agencies: Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command,... are ready with vehicles and forces to perform rescue missions.
