Nghe An: Arrest of Laotian couple for cross-border drug trafficking
(Baonghean.vn) - Two subjects who regularly transported drugs from Laos to Nghe An and neighboring provinces for consumption have just been arrested by a joint force of authorities.
In the early morning of March 19, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (Nghe An Police) coordinated with Thai Hoa Town Police to successfully dismantle Project 838T, arresting 2 Laotian subjects for illegal drug trafficking and seizing 1 heroin cake.

Accordingly, at the end of February 2019, the Special Task Force discovered a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Que Phong district and then to Nghe An districts and neighboring provinces for consumption. Immediately, a special task force was established to combat this.

Consolidating documents and realizing the opportunity was ripe, on the evening of March 18, the reconnaissance teams were divided into many groups, the key point being at Thong Thu Border Gate (Que Phong District). In the early morning of March 19, discovering 2 suspicious subjects on the move, the Task Force immediately surrounded and arrested them, and conducted an inspection of the bag containing 1 heroin cake.

The two subjects are Tho Y Gia (born in 1981) and Va Ba Tong (born in 1980), both residing in Sam To district, Hua Phan province, Laos. The two subjects confessed to regularly transporting drugs from Laos to Vietnam for consumption.
The case is currently under further investigation.
