Nghe An: Arrested a person who fabricated information, called for charity, and swindled money from 1,600 victims
(Baonghean.vn) - Phan Van Tai used many fake Facebook accounts to post information calling for charity for people in difficult circumstances and unfortunate victims, then appropriated money from more than 1,600 victims.
Previously, in early December 2021, Thai Hoa Town Police received a report from a citizen in the area about transferring 2 million VND to an unknown person after reading this person's posts on social networks calling for support for disabled and unfortunate children.
Immediately after receiving the report, Thai Hoa Town Police coordinated with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Nghe An Provincial Police to quickly use professional measures to conduct verification in many localities across the country.

From the collected evidence, the working group of Thai Hoa Town Police coordinated with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Nghe An Province Police to urgently arrest Phan Van Tai (born in 1996), residing in Giang Son Tay Commune, Do Luong District. At the time of arrest, Tai was working as a worker in Bac Ninh Province. The exhibits seized by the police were more than 200 million VND in cash, 02 mobile phones, 03 bank cards.

During the investigation, the police initially determined that Phan Van Tai had used many social media accounts to post false articles in "charity" groups and associations, calling for help for a child in Bac Giang province who was seriously injured by his father (the police determined that this content was not true).
Using the above charity appeal trick, from June 2021 until his arrest, Phan Van Tai hadCheatmore than 1,600 victims nationwide, appropriating 255 million VND.

Currently, Thai Hoa town police are detaining Phan Van Tai for investigation and clarification.
