According to Lieutenant Colonel Hung, after a long period of surveillance, at around 7:00 a.m. on October 15, Thanh Chuong Police coordinated with the Traffic Police Department (PC08, Nghe An Police) to set up a checkpoint on National Highway 46, passing through Van Dien Commune (Nam Dan District). When they saw the car driven by Hoi heading in the direction of Thanh Chuong - Nam Dan, the police asked to stop the car for inspection. At this time, Ich - the person believed to be the leader of this drug ring - was also in the car.
"When asked to stop the car for inspection, Ich tried to kick the door open and run away, but at that time more than 20 police officers had tightened the siege," Lieutenant Colonel Hung said. Checking the trunk of the car, the police discovered a backpack containing 30 heroin bricks.
The two suspects told the police that they bought the drugs from Laos. They were planning to bring them to Ho Chi Minh City for sale when they were arrested.
The case is under further investigation.
