Nghe An focuses on safe and effective winter crop production
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An province has a policy of directing the 2021 winter crop production in a timely, drastic, and synchronous manner, with the motto of 6S - 2 early and 4 close, affirmed Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu at the online conference this morning.
On the morning of September 8, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh - the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference to evaluate the results of the 2020 winter crop production and deploy the 2021 winter crop production plan. Nghe An participated in the conference chaired by comrades: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Ensure 'safety' and economic efficiency
In 2020, the areawinter cropsreached 375 thousand hectares, down 13 thousand hectares due to the impact of storm No. 7, but total output and production value both increased compared to the 2019 winter crop.
One of the main reasons for the increase in crop income value is the structural shift from unstable crops, subject to seasonal pressure and low economic value to higher value crops; production in greenhouses and net houses associated with preliminary processing and processing to ensure food safety, with a stable output market, and planting in different seasons has contributed to increasing product prices. “This year, production in China is forecast to decrease due to many reasons, leading to both increased import demand and reduced competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products in other markets. Not produce at all costs, but by all means
Reporting at the conference this morning, Nghe An informed: In the 2020 winter crop, the whole province planted more than 33,400 hectares; the output reached over 264,600 tons. Production has shifted from quantity to quality, focusing on safe production, forming concentrated production areas; many chain linkage models have achieved high economic efficiency. The whole province has 157 net houses and greenhouses with a total area of 25.77 hectares. Notably, over 5,000 hectares of biomass corn have been jointly purchased by TH Truemilk Group and Vinamilk.
Together with contributing to completing the targetfood production, winter crop production in 2020 brought economic value of more than 1,600 billion VND, an increase of 31.6% compared to winter crop in 2019.

In 2021, the whole province strives to plant over 35,500 hectares of winter crops, including 20,000 hectares of corn; 1,500 hectares of peanuts; 12,400 hectares of various vegetables and beans; and 1,650 hectares of sweet potatoes. To date, the whole province has planted over 5,000 hectares.
In addition to the central government's support and the province's regular support policy, the provincial People's Committee is currently considering financial support for farmers to grow corn, various vegetables on rice fields and produce potatoes in association with product consumption. The total estimated support budget is 4 billion VND.
