Like Tran Nguyen Lan, athlete Nguy Thanh Duy is a familiar name in many chess tournaments in the province and youth tournaments in the country. Before achieving high results at this Phu Dong Sports Festival, the medal list of these two athletes was quite thick.
Teacher Nguyen Van Nga - in charge of the Nghe An chess team said: "At this year's Phu Dong Sports Festival, the Nghe An chess team, although having the advantage of competing on the "home field", still encountered many difficulties because the group consisted of "tough" opponents. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang... are localities with rich traditions and achievements in chess, with systematic and professional investment. The athletes of the Nghe An team have made great efforts and up to this point, the achievements are 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
In the following competition days, Nghe An delegation hopes to win 1 individual or team gold medal in the standard chess category, high school boys age 17-18 and another gold medal in the advanced category.
