(Baonghean.vn) - On April 1, 7 working groups from the Provincial Center for Disease Control came to collect samples from people related to Bach Mai Hospital and Truong Sinh Company in Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, and Nghi Loc districts.

Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control, informed: The Center has just established 7 working groups to collect Covid-19 test samples for all 962 Nghe An people who came to Bach Mai Hospital for examination, treatment, care or visit patients from March 10 to 28, 2020.

During the day, 7 working groups took samples from people related to Bach Mai Hospital and Truong Sinh Company in Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, and Nghi Loc districts.

On April 2-3, it is expected that 8 working groups will collect samples in the remaining districts, cities and towns. With these samples, Nghe An will send them to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for supporting testing.

At this time, Nghe An's Covid-19 testing machine with a low capacity of 25 - 30 samples/day cannot promptly test a large number of samples from people related to Bach Mai Hospital and citizens in centralized quarantine for disease prevention.

Currently, the machine's capacity is 40 minutes/run. Each run can test 3 specimens. Each day, the machine can test 25-30 specimens. Photo: Thanh Cuong
Put into operation since the night of March 29, up to now, the testing machine located at the laboratory of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control has tested 50 samples. The results show that all 50 samples are negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The center is currently prioritizing testing for cases with suspected symptoms of Covid-19. Doctors and technicians of the center have been working day and night to test.

Currently, Nghe An province is completing procedures to purchase a large-scale Covid-19 testing system worth approximately VND8 billion, with a capacity to test 1,000 samples at a time. However, ordering and transporting the machine from abroad takes a lot of time./.
