Nghe An is quarantining more than 600 people at home to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic.

Yesterday afternoon, March 8, Nghe An Department of Health held an urgent meeting on strengthening monitoring and isolation to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic. Chairing the meeting were Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Associate Professor - Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of the Department of Health. Also attending were leaders of the Medical Center and Health Departments of 21 districts, cities and towns.

At the meeting, the Director of the Department of Health briefly reported on the Covid-19 epidemic situation in Vietnam, as well as the world. Accordingly, the epidemic situation is evolving very complicatedly, especially in Vietnam in the past few days.

In Nghe An, there are currently 608 people quarantined at home, 23 people quarantined in a centralized facility, and 2 people quarantined at a medical facility. Recently, Nghe An has also taken samples from 30 cases, all of which tested negative for Covid-19. One case sent its sample to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for testing (and the result was negative - PV), that is the case in Thai Son commune, Do Luong district. This person is a car mechanic in Hanoi, who had contact with the driver of the female "patient number 17". Currently, this driver has also tested positive for Covid-19.

However, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health said that the risk of an epidemic in Nghe An is very high. "Previously, the epidemic areas in Vinh Phuc and Nghe An did not record any cases of the disease. But now it is Hanoi, there is a lot of travel between the two localities. Therefore, the risk of this epidemic in Nghe An in the near future is very high," Mr. Hong analyzed and suggested that localities should not be subjective in the near future.

Meanwhile, leaders of medical centers asked the department's leaders to provide further guidance on how to classify each case for isolation, as well as guidance on purchasing supplies.to prevent Covid-19 epidemic...

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long requested local health sector representatives to grasp the situation and focus on advising localities on epidemic prevention. In particular, they must not be subjective but also not panic.

“We must carefully read each document and plan issued by the Ministry of Health, the Provincial People's Committee, and relevant agencies to fully understand and advise. At the same time, we must strengthen supervision and communication of grassroots health, and firmly grasp local management to avoid missing people returning from epidemic areas who make dishonest health declarations,” emphasized Comrade Bui Dinh Long.
