Nghe An aims to form a number of 'locomotive' enterprises to play a leading role.

On the morning of November 29, in the working program, the Provincial Party Standing Committee gave opinions on the Project on developing Nghe An enterprises until 2025.

BUSINESS SCALE IS MAINLY SMALL AND MICRO-SMALL

In the period of 2016 - 2020, Nghe An enterprises developed rapidly in number; diversified operations in industries, professions, fields and localities with the number of newly established enterprises being 8,906, 1.49 times higher than in the period of 2011 - 2015.

By the end of 2020, there were 23,404 registered enterprises in the province, of which 13,220 were operating (ranked 9th in the country and 2nd in the North Central region).

According to the assessment of the authorities, the business sector has made an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province. Total investment capital of the business sector in 2020 accounted for 35.61% of total social investment capital; the annual average contribution was 62.56% of the budget revenue; the number of businesses with budget contributions of over 50 billion VND increased gradually over the years and accounted for an increasingly large proportion of total domestic revenue. On average, businesses created new jobs for about 9,090 workers each year, making a great contribution to social security.

However, the scale, competitiveness and operational efficiency of enterprises in the province are still limited. Many indicators of enterprises in the province are not equal to the national average, such as: The density of enterprises per 1,000 people of working age is only 43.5%, the average income of workers is only 65%;...

In particular, the scale of enterprises is still limited when up to 97.03% of enterprises in the province are micro and small, with little capital, outdated technology, lack of technical labor, limited management skills, low efficiency, and not many strong brands capable of competing in the regional and international markets.

CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Faced with the above situation, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee discussed and approved the Project on Developing Nghe An Enterprises to 2025 with the goal of developing enterprises in both quantity and quality; focusing on quality development, improving competitiveness and international integration; creating favorable conditions for enterprises to operate and expand their scale, forming a number of "locomotive" enterprises with strong resources to play a leading role in industries and fields with advantages and potential; thereby having a spillover effect on the development of enterprises in the province.

Specifically, Nghe An aims to have about 32,500 - 34,500 enterprises by 2025, higher than the target set in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, corresponding to an increase in the number of established enterprises of 9,096 - 11,186 enterprises.

Concluding this content, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy analyzed the important factors affecting the business development process in the province as ensuring infrastructure, especially deep-water port and airport infrastructure.

This issue is very important to attract investors, especially large, strategic investors to invest in the province. The presence of large investors will also attract investors in other supporting sectors. Therefore, in the immediate future, we need to try to start the construction of a deep-water port from socialized capital sources...

Along with that, it is necessary to evaluate and have attractive investment attraction policies on land, taxes, administrative reform; and supply labor resources.

From there, create a vibrant environment, favorable for business development in the province in a breakthrough way.

On the other hand, the Provincial Party Secretary also requested support to equip businesses in the province with knowledge and skills to improve competitiveness and participate in domestic and international markets; pay attention to management work and promote the role of business associations.

Also in the working program this morning, the Provincial Party Standing Committee gave opinions on the draft Resolution of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership in environmental protection in the province for the period 2022 - 2030; the draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on regulating a number of policies for industrial and handicraft development in the province; and policies on implementing projects requiring conversion of rice-growing land use purposes.
