(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 12, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session with the Steering Committee for Forest Investigation and Inventory for the period 2014 - 2016 to listen to and give opinions for the first time on the results of the forest inventory. Comrade Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the meeting.

The Forest Inventory Steering Committee has directed districts, cities and towns to organize forest inventory conferences; Advised on issuing documents to urge, direct, guide professional activities, and handle difficulties and problems in the forest inventory process; Organized the reception and handover of forest inventory support documents to district-level forest inventory teams and group II forest owners; Organized training courses on forest inventory; Organized forest inventory in districts, cities and towns in the province.

Currently, the total area of ​​forests and forestry land in the province is more than 1,274.5 hectares, of which forested land is more than 985,137 hectares and non-forested land is 289,335 hectares. The forest and forestry land area in the planning includes 3 types of forests: Special-use forests of more than 172,719 hectares, protection forests of more than 366,826 hectares and production forests of more than 625,408 hectares; The area of ​​natural forests outside the planning of the 3 types of forests is more than 47,827 hectares. The forest and forestry land area according to management includes: The area of ​​forest owners managed by organizations is nearly 301,654 hectares, the area managed by households and individuals is more than 251,515 hectares and the area managed by communities is nearly 29,557 hectares.

Total timber reserves in the province are 92,968,710 m3, of which natural forest is 83,217,865 m3and planted forests are 9,750,845 m3; Current forest cover is nearly 60%. The forested area as measured in 2015 increased by 80,495 ha compared to the forest change data in 2014, equivalent to a 4.8% increase in forest cover. This is mainly concentrated in 3 districts: Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, with a total increase in natural forest area of ​​112,051 ha.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the efforts of relevant levels and sectors in coordinating the implementation of forest inventory work, especially some mountainous districts that have done a good job of forest inventory work. At the same time, he also pointed out the shortcomings that need to be overcome in forest inventory work and requested the standing agency of the Forest Inventory Steering Committee to continue reviewing, synthesizing and perfecting the forest inventory work; it is necessary to evaluate, re-examine and find out the causes in districts with increased and decreased forest inventory areas. Assign the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to review the land and forest allocation work to have a handling plan; districts and sectors review overlapping land and disputed land between units for handling...
