Nghe An ranks second in the country in handling food safety violations.

(Baonghean.vn) – On the afternoon of May 5, the Central Interdisciplinary Inspection Delegation on Food Safety had a working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

The report on the results of food safety assurance in the first four months of 2016 in Nghe An province shows that: Recently, Nghe An has done a good job of inspection and examination; strictly punished violators.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Delegation had a working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

Specifically, during the 2016 Lunar New Year, the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team on Food Safety inspected 47 establishments producing and trading food, catering services, markets and supermarkets. Of these, 18 establishments were fined, and the budget was paid 68,250,000 VND.

During the “Month of Action for Food Safety 2016” (April 15, 2016 - May 15, 2016), the Provincial Interdisciplinary Team inspected 10 food production, trading and processing establishments. Of which, 5 establishments were fined with a total fine of 45,450,000 VND; the Medical Specialized Team inspected 10 establishments, fined 1 establishment with a violation fine of 1,500,000 VND.

Also during this time, the Department of Health's specialized inspection team on bottled drinking water worked with 52 establishments, of which 8 establishments were temporarily suspended from production; 11 establishments were administratively fined, with a total fine of 22,900,000 million VND... Nghe An Industry and Trade Department inspected and handled 360 cases, with a total fine of 603,700,000 VND.

According to assessment: Since the beginning of the year, Nghe An is the second locality in the country in terms of results of inspection, examination and handling of violations of food safety (after Ho Chi Minh City).

Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety of Nghe An province affirmed his determination to strictly handle and rectify violations of food safety for the health of the people.

At the meeting, the Central Interdisciplinary Inspection Team highly appreciated the direction of ensuring food safety of Nghe An province as well as the inspection and examination work. At the same time, the Inspection Team requested the province to do a good job of guiding and improving knowledge on food safety for business households; and local departments and branches in the province to do a good job of "post-inspection" after inspection and examination.

In response to the comments of the Central Interdisciplinary Inspection Team, in the coming time, Nghe An province will continue to promote inspection and examination work, and plans to establish a "model case" to handle violations.
