(Baonghean.vn) - Heavy rain over the past two days has caused thousands of hectares of crops in Nghe An to be flooded.

* In Dien Chau,According to preliminary statistics of the district's Department of Agriculture, the area of ​​winter crops flooded is 2,200 hectares out of a total of 4,900 hectares planned for planting. The area of ​​winter crops on 2-rice land has been almost completely flooded with about 300 hectares of corn and 80 hectares of various vegetables. In particular, the most flooded communes include: Dien Loi, Dien Thinh, Dien An due to poor drainage in this area.

In Thanh Chuong, up to this point, the rain has flooded 170 hectares of ponds, 406 hectares of winter corn and vegetables. In addition, the floods have also damaged two bridges and 100 meters of irrigation canals.

Heavy rain from early morning until now, in Quynh Luu district, nearly 1,000 hectares of crops have been flooded, including more than 800 hectares of vegetables in the Bai Ngang area, the rest is winter corn on 2-rice land.

To reduce damage to crops, on the afternoon of October 15, when the rain eased, farmers in heavily flooded communes such as Quynh Yen, Quynh Van, Quynh Giang, Quynh Dien... urgently brought tools to the fields to clear the flow and build dykes to save crops.

* As of noon on October 15,the whole of Hung Nguyen district115 hectares of late-season rice in the communes of Hung Tay, Hung Yen Bac, Hung Yen Nam... were flooded; 65 hectares of squash planted in the communes of Hung Tan, Hung Long, Hung Linh... were damaged by over 70%; 150 hectares of winter corn were also damaged by over 70% in the communes of Hung Yen, Hung Long, Hung Xa, Hung Chien, Hung Thang...; 115.5 hectares of vegetables were flooded, damaging 150 hectares.

In addition, 127 hectares of fish farming in the third crop suffered over 70% damage; about 250 hectares of specialized fish farming suffered damage; More than 2,500 meters of irrigation canals were eroded. Many roads were flooded and damaged.

Hung Nguyen district directed localities to actively dredge sewers, use drainage pumps in Hung Dao and Hung Chau communes to continuously pump to drain water. At the same time, coordinate with Ben Thuy sluice gates to be on duty, regulate water to drain in a timely manner, and minimize damage to people's production. Communes closely monitor water levels in dams to proactively regulate water in a timely manner.

* According to initial statistics of Nghi Loc Department of AgricultureHeavy rains have submerged more than 3,500 hectares of summer-autumn rice; 1,500 hectares of corn; 437 hectares of peanuts and 300 hectares of winter-spring vegetables in the district. The flooded areas are mainly concentrated in the communes of Nghi My, Nghi Lam, Nghi Yen, Nghi Hung, Nghi Kieu... and cut off some roads in the area of ​​Tan Giai bridge, Nghi Lam, My Hoa hamlet, Nghi My, Tam Da hamlet, Nghi Hung...

Faced with that situation, Nghi Loc District People's Committee directed specialized departments to closely follow the grassroots, coordinate with localities to clear the flow of small rivers and canals, and assign forces to be on duty at flooded roads and points to guide people to cross safely. For dams, it is necessary to be on duty and stick to posts to monitor and adjust water levels to ensure safety for the dams.

According to statistics from the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, by early afternoon on October 15, the whole province had more than 21,000 hectares of crops flooded. Of which, 13,000 hectares were winter corn, the remaining area was vegetables and other crops.

Currently, heavy rain continues, so the risk of flooding of various crops is forecast to increase.
