(Baonghean.vn) - After more than two weeks of school, the dropout rate at schools in the province is still quite high with more than 500 students dropping out.

This is the summary data of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training on preparations for the 2016-2017 school year. Accordingly, after the summer, the whole province had 510 students dropping out of school, of which, more than 300 were male students and 194 were female students. More than 150 students were ethnic minorities. The number of students dropping out of secondary school was 305 students, and the number of high school students was 205 students.

Statistics show that 387 students dropped out of school due to poor academic performance. In addition, many students dropped out due to difficult family circumstances, having to go to school far away, or other reasons.

To overcome the situation of students not attending class, the Department of Education and Training has implemented solutions such as: Taking advantage of the leadership of the Party Committee, direction of the government, coordinating with the Fatherland Front and unions, and parents' associations to mobilize students to return to school.

Schools focus on reviewing dropouts, analyzing the causes to find solutions; assigning managers and teachers to encourage and tutor students to return to school. Localities have also coordinated with organizations, the Association for the Promotion of Education, businesses, philanthropists, and press agencies to mobilize scholarship funds, organize support campaigns, help students in difficult circumstances, grant scholarships to support poor students, and implement the "3 enough" requirement for students.

At the beginning of the new school year, places where students drop out will open cultural remedial classes for students who are not qualified to study the general education program.
