(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 7, within the framework of the press conference, the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized a ceremony to commend 10 collectives and individuals from press agencies with outstanding achievements in propaganda work on natural disaster and flood prevention and control and charity activities in 2022 in the province.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors, together with leaders and reporters of local press agencies, offices and resident reporters.
In Decision No. 302/QD-UBND dated February 8, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit to 5 collectives and 5 individuals of local press agencies and resident representative offices.

This is the province's recognition of collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in propaganda work on natural disaster and flood prevention and control and charity activities in 2022 based on 3 criteria: Having many news and articles on propaganda on flood prevention and control in Nghe An province, especially the flood that occurred in October 2022, which seriously affected localities in the province, including Ky Son district; reporters and journalists working directly at the scene, providing quick and timely information on the flood situation; actively participating in charity activities, calling for support, directly supporting, helping people in flood-affected areas overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

Previously, in October 2022, the prolonged flood in Nghe An province, especially in mountainous districts, caused deep flooding and landslides. The flood caused great damage to people and infrastructure (11 people died, 100 houses collapsed, damaged, 322 houses were relocated). The total economic damage caused by the flood in Nghe An was more than 1,226 billion VND, of which the flood caused by storm No. 4 (storm Noru) alone was more than 908 billion VND.
In addition to the active participation of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations from the province to the grassroots level in implementing measures to overcome the consequences caused by floods and storms, ensuring stable lives for people in affected areas; local press agencies also sent reporters directly to work in areas heavily affected by heavy rains and flash floods, promptly providing readers with the fastest and most truthful information about the work to overcome the consequences caused by floods and storms, about people's lives, and about volunteer activities.

In October 2022 alone, there were more than 500 news and articles about the flood situation, disaster recovery work and volunteer activities in Nghe An province.
In addition to sending reporters to work directly in the area, many press agencies have proactively supported and actively called on organizations, individuals and businesses across the country to join hands to help people in areas directly affected by floods overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives. Press agencies have directly supported and connected with individuals and organizations to donate 7,259,200 VND in cash and hundreds of tons of essential necessities to people in areas severely affected by floods.

As for Nghe An Newspaper, on the very first day of flash floods in Ky Son district, the Newspaper mobilized its staff and reporters to donate to support people affected by floods. Immediately after the floods receded, Nghe An Newspaper organized trucks carrying necessities and relief goods to support people. In addition, Nghe An Newspaper called on organizations, units, businesses and individuals to support Ky Son district with goods, supplies, food and provisions worth nearly 2 billion VND. Also in 2022, Nghe An Newspaper contributed and called on organizations and units to participate in humanitarian charity activities with material and money worth more than 5 billion VND./.
