Nghe An: Refusing to reveal where he kept his money, an old farmer was stabbed repeatedly by his neighbor.

On October 13, speaking with a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, Colonel Cao Tien Mai - Head of Nam Dan District Police (Nghe An), said that this unit is temporarily detaining Tu Trong Hoa (35 years old, residing in Hamlet 2, Nam Cuong Commune) to clarify the act of intentionally causing injury.

Meanwhile, the victim, Mr. Nguyen Tuong (65 years old), is still being treated at Nghe An General Hospital.

Mr. Tuong said that his house and Hoa's house lived next to each other and had never had any conflicts. On October 11, he sold a cow for more than 30 million VND. At about 9 pm that same day, while he was sleeping, he was suddenly strangled by a young neighbor with one hand and a machete in the other.

“He asked where the money from selling the cow was. I told him I had already deposited it. He immediately swung his knife and stabbed and slashed me repeatedly,” the old farmer recounted. He said he was lucky to be able to run away after one of Hoa’s knife swings hit a bamboo mat, causing the blade to fly out.

Mr. Tuong then ran out to the street to call for help, while Hoa leisurely went home to shower and go to sleep. At the hospital, the doctor determined that the victim had been stabbed 4 times, including 1 in the neck, severing a vein, 1 in the ear, etc. That same evening, Hoa was detained by the police for investigation.

The victim used to live with his wife, but recently his wife went to Hanoi to take care of the child, so Mr. Tuong slept alone. “The night the incident happened, I remember locking the door before going to bed. I don’t know how he got in. I guess Hoa sneaked into the house and hid there before, waiting for me to go to sleep before he did it,” Mr. Tuong said.

The case is still being investigated.
