Nghe An celebrates 94th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, honors 27 outstanding works

(Baonghean.vn) - From more than 100 entries, the 14th Nghe An Journalism Award (2018) selected 58 entries for the final round, selecting 27 outstanding entries to honor on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Journalism Day, June 21.

On the morning of June 18, the People's Committee of Nghe An province solemnly organized the 94th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2019) and the 14th Nghe An Press Awards Ceremony 2018.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Press accompanies the development of the province

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong affirmed that Nghe An is a locality with quite vibrant press activities, which have had a catalytic effect and contributed to the stability and development of the province in recent years.

News agencies and newspapers in the province have actively accompanied Party committees, authorities, and organizations at all levels of the province, bringing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws into life; encouraging all levels, sectors, and people of all walks of life to compete in labor production, successfully completing the province's socio-economic development tasks.

“Many “hot” issues and incidents arising from the grassroots have been mentioned and reported by the press, listened to by provincial leaders, and promptly resolved, and have been welcomed by public opinion, contributing to creating consensus and stability in society. From the perspective of reporters, many socio-economic development policies of the province have been discovered, proposed, developed and perfected,” he noted.

Currently, Nghe An has 7 provincial press agencies, 62 representative offices, and resident reporters in Nghe An. The team of journalists, reporters, and press collaborators is large, with nearly 700 people, of which over 200 have been granted Journalist Cards. The Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province has over 350 members operating in 19 journalist branches.

Every year, press agencies in Nghe An actively participate and win high prizes in the system of press awards at the provincial, central, and ministerial and sectoral levels, making Nghe An's press position one of the top localities in the country.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong commended and sincerely thanked the responsible and effective contributions of press agencies and journalists to the socio-economic development of the province in recent times.

At the same time, he expressed his hope that news agencies and newspapers continue to thoroughly grasp and implement policies, constantly innovate, improve professionalism and modernity, increase attractiveness and persuasion, and promote the image of Nghe An to domestic and international friends.

At the ceremony, the 14th Nghe An Press Awards - 2018 also announced and awarded prizes to outstanding authors and works. Journalist Tran Duy Ngoan - Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Press Awards Judging Council in 2018 said that the Nghe An Press Awards 2018 had over 20 press agencies (Nghe An press and representative offices, resident reporters of central and industry newspapers), with over 100 works in 4 types of press participating in the award (Printed Newspaper, Visual Newspaper, Spoken Newspaper and Electronic Newspaper).

Based on the Competition Rules, the Preliminary Round Judging Council selected 58 works for the final round, including: 23 printed newspaper works, 15 electronic newspaper works, 9 visual newspaper works, and 10 spoken newspaper works.

The award attracted many young journalists to participate with many topics and vivid expressions, closely following the province's key political tasks, especially major events and issues of Nghe An in 2018.

The works reflect many typical new factors, good people and good deeds in all fields, promoting the qualities and traditions of Nghe An people, and honoring the new.

Promoting the quickness and timeliness of various types of journalism, many works have a highly combative nature, criticizing and warning about negative phenomena in management, production, business, services and social life.

At the same time, the authors have paid attention to choosing topics, investing in depth in their works, closely combining with the art of reflection, promoting the strengths of journalistic genres, creating high social effects of the issues raised.

The jury selected 27 outstanding works to be honored at the Award Ceremony, including: 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 9 Third Prizes and 12 Encouragement Prizes. Nghe An Newspaper won 1 Second Prize, 3 Third Prizes and 3 Encouragement Prizes.
