Nghe An: Tornado rips off roofs of 68 houses in border area

(Baonghean.vn) - A sudden tornado occurred on the afternoon of April 11, causing 68 houses in Ky Son, Nghe An to have their roofs blown off, injuring 2 people.

The tornado did not cause any human casualties, but many houses were damaged, their roofs blown off, and many properties, trees and crops were damaged.

Immediately after the tornado ended, officers and soldiers of the Nam Can International Border Gate Border Guard Station (Nghe An Border Guard), and local authorities of Nam Can commune, went down to help people overcome the consequences.

Initially, Nam Can commune supported each family affected by the tornado with 20kg of rice.

On the afternoon of April 12, Mr. Phan Sy Thang, Chief of Office of the People's Committee of Ky Son district informed: By this afternoon, communes that suffered heavy damage caused by the tornado such as Nam Can, Pha Danh, and Huoi Tu had sent reports to the District People's Committee. Accordingly, a total of 68 houses had their roofs blown off, 2 houses in Pha Danh commune were completely collapsed. The tornado also damaged the roofs of 3 classrooms at Pha Danh Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities and blew off the roofs of 4 classrooms and 1 office building at Nam Can 1 Primary School. In Nam Can commune, the ceiling of the medical station also collapsed, causing heavy damage.

During the hailstorm on April 11, two women in Pha Bun village (Huoi Tu commune) were struck by lightning and injured. Currently, one has recovered, while the other is seriously injured and is being treated at the commune health station.
