Nghe An: Rain after storm kills 1 person, sweeps away many houses
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the impact of storm No. 3, in recent days, some mountainous areas of Nghe An have experienced moderate to heavy rain, causing great damage.Initial statistics show 1 person dead and many houses swept away.
According to a quick report from the Provincial Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Committee (PCLB - TKCN), as of 6:30 p.m. on August 20, 2016, in Tan Ky district, there was 1 person dead (swept away by floodwaters while herding buffalo).
Ky Son district has been severely affected by floods in recent days. In My Ly and Keng Du communes, 16 houses collapsed, 6 houses were swept away, 1 house had to be evacuated due to landslide in Muong Tip commune. Three trucks were flooded, 1 motorboat was swept away, 150 small generators were swept away, 250 people had to be evacuated to safety.

Many roads were flooded: the route from Muong Xen town to Muong Tip commune was flooded at 4 points, the Huu Lap - Bao Nam route had landslides that spilled onto the road; the spillway bridge on the Na Ngoi - Keng Du route was flooded and vehicles could not pass.
In addition, the Dike and Embankment works of the Ta Lam Dike system were eroded and damaged: Nhan - Khanh Embankment: 1.5km; Hung Linh Embankment: 1.0km; Lang Do Embankment: 0.7km; Thanh Linh Embankment: 0.97km.
Dam projects: Cam village spillway, Que Phong district was severely damaged. Some local dams and reservoirs managed by the Irrigation Company had their upper and lower slopes eroded, and the spillway soil was eroded.
3,500 m of canals and ditches were eroded. The suction tanks of pumping stations along the Ca River were filled in. Gates 2 and 4 of Ben Thuy sluice were damaged and had to be closed with emergency floats. Several provincial, district and local roads were flooded, eroded and damaged.
To overcome the consequences of floods, the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns actively mobilized forces and means in the area to help and guide people to overcome the damage; allocated district budgets to visit and encourage families with deceased people and families with heavy housing damage caused by floods. The Department of Transport directed localities and units to assign people to guard traffic, ensure safety for people at flooded areas, and stream overflows; mobilized machinery and equipment to handle landslides and traffic jams, ensuring safety for people traveling.
