The Department of Education and Training has just issued a document strictly prohibiting organizations and individuals from organizing extra teaching and learning inside and outside of schools in any form during the summer vacation; except for organizing review sessions for 12th graders and training excellent students to participate in national, regional and international competition teams.

To strictly implement this regulation, the Department requires school principals to disseminate and thoroughly understand this policy to teachers, students and parents so that they are aware and need to organize teachers to sign a commitment with the school, not to organize extra teaching and learning inside and outside the school in any form. Schools also need to strengthen the management of teachers regarding extra teaching, promptly detect, handle and recommend handling according to their authority of teachers who violate the above regulations.

The Department also requested the Department of Education and Training to direct schools in the area to strictly implement the above requirements. At the same time, strengthen inspection work, propose strict handling of organizations and individuals who violate the regulations; advise the People's Committee of the district (city, town) to direct localities to regularly review, grasp information and promptly reflect on extra-curricular teaching and learning in the area for timely handling.

During the summer vacation, the Department of Education and Training encourages schools to create conditions for students to use the facilities of the unit such as libraries, gyms, stadiums, swimming pools, so that students can review, read books, read newspapers, look up documents, practice and have fun.

School principals are responsible for planning cultural review and knowledge enrichment for students with weak academic performance; arranging reasonable time to organize exams and consider promotion for students who need to retake the exam and students who have to practice during the summer.

During the summer break, the Department will increase inspections, surprise checks and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law. Any information about extra teaching and learning can be reported by people via the hotline (0983 565 267; 0979 788 769).

Thus, this is the second consecutive year that the Nghe An Department of Education has issued a document strictly prohibiting extra teaching and learning during the summer. The implementation of this content has been agreed by many parents. However, there are still concerns as the pressure of exams is quite high and many parents, especially parents with children in their final years, want their children to take extra classes to supplement their knowledge before entering the new school year.

In addition, if extra teaching and learning are banned, children may abuse phones, TVs and play games without parental supervision.
