Nghe An: Many businesses in the mineral sector were fined for violating occupational safety and health
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2018, the People's Committee of Nghe An province directed the establishment of two interdisciplinary inspection teams to inspect compliance with laws on minerals and occupational safety and hygiene in mineral exploitation activities in the area.
After inspecting 184 enterprises operating in the mineral sector in the province, two interdisciplinary teams chaired by the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment drew up 37 records of administrative violations in the field of occupational safety and health. From there, they recommended that the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts and cities issue decisions to impose fines of more than 340 million VND.

The main violations are: Not classifying workers according to the list of heavy, toxic, and dangerous jobs; Not declaring before putting into use machinery, equipment, and materials with strict requirements on labor safety; Not immediately taking remedial measures or stopping the operation of machinery, equipment, and workplaces that pose a risk of causing labor accidents, occupational diseases, violating national technical regulations on labor safety; Not organizing labor safety and hygiene training for workers according to the provisions of law...
The highest administrative penalty level through inspections and checks is 15 million VND and 7/37 violating enterprises were fined at this level.
In addition, two enterprises were fined 62 million VND by the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs for violating regulations on occupational safety and health, namely Toan Thanh Company Limited (Do Luong district) and Xuan Mai Company Limited (Hoang Mai town).
