Currently, in the mountainous districts of Nghe An, people have the habit of letting their dogs roam freely, while rabies vaccination for pets is rarely carried out in accordance with regulations.
Rabies is a virus that is transmitted from the saliva of infected animals to humans through bites or scratches on the body. Most rabies infections in humans are caused by dog and cat bites. The disease can also be transmitted from person to person. This occurs when an infected person bites another person. Caring for a victim of a rabid dog bite also increases the risk of transmitting the virus to others. When bitten by a dog or cat suspected of having rabies, the victim needs to take some emergency first aid measures such as: washing the wound with concentrated soap. If soap is not available, wash the dog or cat bite under running water continuously for about 10-15 minutes. Take the victim to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment. Follow the doctor's instructions, absolutely do not treat the disease with traditional medicine or believe in witch doctors or sorcerers. |
