Nghe An launches Action Month for Gender Equality and Violence Prevention 2021

On the afternoon of November 8, the Provincial People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of the "Month of action for gender equality and prevention and response to gender-based violence" in 2021 with the theme "Ensuring social security, increasing power and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence". The ceremony was held online due to the complicated developments of the epidemic. At the bridge point of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Mr. Doan Hong Vu - Director of the Department chaired.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Doan Hong Vu said that in recent years, Nghe An province has done well in gender equality and achieved remarkable results. The proportion of women in the province accounts for more than 50% of the workforce, contributing increasingly to the socio-economic development of the province; the proportion of female National Assembly deputies is 30.8%; the proportion of female People's Council deputies at the provincial level is 27.7%, at the district level is 31.2%, at the commune level is 29.9%; there is a 27% proportion of female business owners, 32% of female students, pupils and students are newly recruited in the vocational education system...
