Nghe An issues urgent dispatch to respond to storm No. 7
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 14, the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued telegram No. 36/CD-UBND on focusing on responding to storm No. 7.
According to the forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 4:00 a.m., the center of the storm was at about 19.7 degrees North latitude; 108.2 degrees East longitude, right on the Gulf of Tonkin, about 70 km southeast of Bach Long Vi Island. The strongest wind near the center of the storm is level 9, gusting to level 11. The radius of strong winds from level 6, gusting to level 8 or higher is about 180 km from the center of the storm.
To proactively respond to storms and limit damage to people's lives and property, the Chairman of the People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue (PCTT - TKCN) has just issued Official Dispatch 36/CD-UBND requesting the Chairman of the People's Committee - Head of the PCTT - TKCN Steering Committee of districts, cities and towns; the Provincial Military Command; the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police; the Departments of: Transport, Construction, Education and Training, Health, Culture and Sports, Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Tourism, Information and Communications; Chairman of the Board of Members, Chairman of the Company, Director of Irrigation Companies; Hydropower in the province and related units.implement the following specific tasks:
1. Strictly implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 1393/CD-TTg dated October 12, 2020 of the Prime Minister on focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods and responding to storm No. 7,tropical depression; Telegram No. 25/CD-TWPCTT dated October 13, 2020 of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on focusing on emergency response to storm No. 7; Telegram No. 24/CD-TW dated October 12, 2020 of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.

2. Regularly update information and notify owners of vehicles and captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas. Dangerous areas due to storms in the East Sea in the next 24 hours (strong winds of level 6 or higher, gusts of level 8 or higher): North of the Gulf of Tonkin, from latitude 17.5 to latitude 21.0 degrees North.
3. Inspect and guide the mooring of boats and ships, and implement measures to ensure the safety of people and property for tourism activities along the coast and for aquaculture and seafood cages along the coast and inland. Do not allow people to stay on cages, watchtowers, or boats when the storm hits.

4. Direct and guide people to brace houses, reinforce and protect structures, prune tree branches, etc. to limit damage caused by storms.
5. Rescue units (Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command, etc.) are ready with forces and means for rescue when requested.
6. Check locations at risk of landslides, underground passages, overflows, and traffic jams to warn people; mobilize vehicles and guards to direct traffic, provide warnings, and close roads to ensure safety.
7. Provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper, Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station and mass media increase broadcasting time and report on developments of tropical depressions so that authorities at all levels and people can proactively prevent them.
8. Organize a 24/7 on-duty team to monitor the storm's developments; proactively direct responses to possible bad situations. Regularly report to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control) for timely handling./.
