Nghe An province issues urgent dispatch to respond to typhoon No. 7.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 14th, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Official Dispatch No. 36/CĐ-UBND regarding focusing on responding to Typhoon No. 7.
According to forecasts from the National Center for Hydrometeorology, at 04:00, the typhoon's center was located at approximately 19.7 degrees North latitude and 108.2 degrees East longitude, right over the Gulf of Tonkin, about 70 km southeast of Bach Long Vi Island. The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon were at level 9, with gusts up to level 11. The radius of strong winds from level 6, with gusts from level 8 and above, was approximately 180 km from the typhoon's center.
To proactively respond to the storm and minimize damage to people's lives and property, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue (PCTT - TKCN) has just issued Official Dispatch 36/CĐ-UBND requesting the Chairmen of the People's Committees - Heads of the Steering Committees for PCTT - TKCN of districts, cities, and towns; the Provincial Military Command; the Provincial Border Guard Command; the Provincial Police; the Departments of Transport, Construction, Education and Training, Health, Culture and Sports, Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Tourism, Information and Communications; the Chairmen of the Boards of Members, Chairmen of Companies, and Directors of Irrigation and Hydropower Companies in the province and other relevant units.Implement the following specific tasks:
1. Strictly implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 1393/CĐ-TTg dated October 12, 2020, of the Prime Minister on focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods and responding to Typhoon No. 7.tropical depression; Official dispatch No. 25/CĐ-TWPCTT dated October 13, 2020, from the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control regarding focusing on emergency response to typhoon No. 7; Official dispatch No. 24/CĐ-TW dated October 12, 2020, from the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control - National Committee for Incident Response, Disaster Relief and Search and Rescue.

2. Regularly update information and notify owners of vehicles and captains of ships and boats operating at sea about the location, direction of movement, and development of the storm so that they can proactively take preventive measures, evacuate, or avoid moving into dangerous areas. The dangerous area due to the storm in the East Sea over the next 24 hours (strong winds of level 6 or higher, gusts of level 8 or higher): Northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, from latitude 17.5 to 21.0 degrees North.
3. Inspect and guide the mooring of vessels, and implement measures to ensure the safety of people and property for tourism activities along the coastal and inland areas, including aquaculture farms and rafts. Prevent people from remaining on rafts, watchtowers, or vessels when the storm hits.

4. Instruct and guide people to reinforce houses, protect structures, trim tree branches, etc., to minimize damage caused by the storm.
5. Rescue and relief units (Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command, etc.) are ready with personnel and equipment for rescue and relief operations when required.
6. Review locations at risk of landslides, submerged areas, flooding, and road blockages to warn the public; mobilize vehicles and personnel to guide traffic, maintain vigilance, and close roads to ensure safety.
7. The provincial radio and television station, Nghe An Newspaper, Ben Thuy coastal information station, and other mass media outlets should increase broadcasting time and news coverage on the developments of the tropical depression so that all levels of government and the people can proactively take preventive measures.
8. Maintain a strict 24/7 duty roster to monitor the storm's progress; proactively direct responses to any adverse situations that may arise. Regularly report to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue) for timely action./.
