Nghe An reviews and plans to support final-year review funding for schools

The Department of Education and Training has just issued Document No. 827/SGDĐT-GDTrH dated April 11, 2025 to the Principals of public high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers and continuing education centers, and education and training departments of districts, cities and towns on calculating the number of periods and making estimates of funding for extra teaching and learning for students in grades 9 and 12 in the 2024 - 2025 school year.

The implementation of this content is carried out in the context of Circular 29 regulating extra teaching and learning which has been implemented in all schools in the province. Accordingly, instead of implementing extra teaching with tuition fees as before, schools now organize free extra teaching for 3 subjects: tutoring for students who have not achieved, nurturing excellent students and reviewing for final year students.

In order to support teachers and schools in the review process, the Department of Education and Training requires schools to base on the actual organization of review sessions for students to calculate the number of periods.tutoringReview for students in each exam subject, total number of school periods in all exam subjects for final year students in grades 9 and 12.

The calculation must be based on the number of review weeks, number of review classes, number of review periods/class, number of review periods arranged in the labor norms in the payroll and number of extra teaching hours (if any).

From this calculation, schools need to estimate the need for additional teaching funds (teaching overtime). At the same time, determine the available funding sources at the unit for implementation (including: balancing tuition revenue, saving from the State budget and other legal sources).

The document of the Department of Education and Training also clearly states that in case of lack of funds, the unit shall prepare a request for additional funds and send it to the Department of Education and Training (for units under the management of the Department of Education and Training) and the Department of Education and Training (for units under the Department), to synthesize and submit to the competent authority for approval and additional funding for the units.

Thus, with the planning of additional funding for units, it has timely supported and encouraged schools in implementing review for final year students.

Previously, according to the plan, to prepare for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, schools in the province planned to organize graduation exam review for students for 18 weeks (from February 14, 2025 to June 22, 2025). For grade 9 students, the maximum number of review weeks is 15 weeks (from February 14, 2025 to May 31, 2025).

Currently, according to the Department of Education and Training, up to now, 397 secondary schools and 91 high schools in the province have organized free tutoring for students (accounting for 100%). Of which, 53,420 9th grade students participated in secondary schools, and 38,365 12th grade students participated in high schools.

However, in the guidance document, financial support is only provided to public schools, vocational education - continuing education centers, continuing education centers, but does not include non-public schools.
