On the morning of November 28, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a working session to evaluate the implementation results of the "Project on developing health care towards socialization, improving the quality of disease prevention, examination, treatment, and health care for people in the period of 2017 - 2020". According to Mr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of the Department of Health, this Project was approved by the Provincial People's Committee in March 2017. Since then, most of the set targets have been basically achieved and exceeded. During this process, the sector has mobilized resources to invest in modern equipment such as CT scanners, MRI scanners, gastrointestinal endoscopes, etc. Non-public hospitals continue to expand, upgrade and build new quality infrastructure. The rate of patients having to be transferred to other hospitals has decreased significantly, many diseases that previously had to be transferred to other hospitals are now treated near home, making it convenient for care, reducing treatment costs, travel, food and accommodation, etc.

“While the budget is limited, funding mobilized from socialization plays a very important role. Creating positive changes in the face of the medical sector from infrastructure, equipment to attitude and spirit has contributed to patient satisfaction,” said Mr. Chinh.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Health also pointed out many difficulties and obstacles affecting the socialization of health care such as lack of consensus between the health sector and the Social Insurance, low allocation of the Social Insurance fund; mechanisms and policies in implementing socialization are not really synchronized between the Central and local levels...

Concluding the meeting, comrade Thai Thanh Quy said that Nghe An is a province highly appreciated by the Central Government for its socialization work in the health sector, ranking among the top in the country on this issue.

Faced with the difficulties raised by the health sector, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Nghe An will soon establish a working group to specifically address the problems and shortcomings related to this issue. "The health sector involves many people, there are many issues that need to be resolved, so establishing a working group is necessary," emphasized Mr. Thai Thanh Quy.

This team will be headed by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long, the Department of Health will be the standing agency, and members will include the Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Finance, Social Insurance, Department of Construction... The team will be responsible for researching mechanisms and policies, and removing obstacles related to healthcare and health insurance.

In addition, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to re-plan the medical examination and treatment network in the province, including the need to plan concentrated medical examination and treatment areas in some localities. The establishment of new hospitals and medical examination and treatment facilities must ensure compliance with standards and regulations. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that in investing in hospital construction, it is necessary to pay attention to the issue of medical waste treatment.
