Nghe An takes advantage of great opportunities from e-commerce

In Nghe An, e-commerce is developing rapidly, modern technical infrastructure and full support facilities have helped businesses and consumers facilitate transactions.

E-commerce trend is growing strongly

According to information from the Department of Industry and Trade, up to now, Nghe An e-commerce trading floor has supported more than 470 businesses and traders to register for membership and set up booths, attracting over 9.2 million visits; Introducing and offering 3,723 products and services, ranking 5th in the country in terms of the number of agricultural products and Vietnamese goods in the area listed on the floor. Over 70% of businesses have applied digital platforms in transactions.

From 2021 to present, the Department of Industry and Trade has implemented many activities to connect supply - demand, connect trade, build Vietnamese sales points, organize Vietnamese goods markets for Vietnamese production and trading entities in the area. Organize trade connection conferences; Conferences to connect customers, distributors, convenience stores with manufacturers to consume agricultural, forestry, fishery products, OCOP products of Nghe An province; Conferences to connect consumption of regional agricultural products in Nghe An to introduce nearly 300 businesses connecting consumption with supermarket systems, distributors, wholesalers nationwide such as Winmart + supermarket system, Go Vinh Supermarket; MM Mega Market, Lotte, BRG, Tu Son - An Giang, Winincomecer, OCOP Vietnam Trading Company Limited, AEON,...

Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep - Head of Trade Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade said: The Department has directed units, departments and branches to connect and introduce to relevant agencies and units to access and participate in over 40 trade promotion programs and events, connecting supply and demand of goods with provinces and cities nationwide; participating in 73 fairs and conferences connecting trade, connecting supply and demand inside and outside the province to introduce and connect the consumption of products of more than 600 enterprises and production establishments in markets inside and outside the province.

The Department of Industry and Trade also supports providing information and putting Vietnamese products in the area on e-commerce trading floors. To date, Nghe An E-commerce Trading Floor has supported more than 470 businesses and traders to register as members and set up booths; Attracting over 9.2 million visits; Introducing and offering 3,723 products and services. By the end of 2023, the number of Nghe An agricultural production households put on e-commerce floors was 266,373 households, the total number of products put on the floor was 7,653 products, ranking 5th in the country in terms of the number of agricultural products and Vietnamese products in the area put on the floor.

After 2 years of implementing the 4.0 market model, there have been 31 4.0 markets/streets with 4,313 points of sale equipped with QR Codes. Every month, an average of 20,000 transactions occur with a cash flow of more than 20 billion VND through Viettel Money QR scanning (on average, each point has a cash flow of 15 million VND/point scanned via QR). In addition, non-cash payment methods have been widely deployed by banks, and are now quite popular in establishments, businesses, schools, etc., non-cash payment methods create conditions for consumers to experience and access modern payment methods, stimulating shopping activities.

Building product distribution chain

With the participation of the Industry and Trade sector, Nghe An currently has 124/403 OCOP products; 27/96 typical rural industrial products are agricultural products and products processed from agricultural products, locally produced products have entered the supply chain system such as BigC, MM Mega Market, Lotte, Bach Hoa Xanh, Aeon, Maxi Mart... and the system of food stores and department stores.

The Industry and Trade sector has also grasped the situation, connected localities, organizations, and units to support the consumption of OCOP products, typical industrial and rural products, and agricultural products in the province. Connecting the consumption of Ky Son green squash, Do Luong lemon, Anh Son grapefruit, and processed agricultural products participating in the Fruit Festival in Hanoi; Organizing participation in trade activities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City, Hue City, Lang Son, Thai Binh, Gia Lai provinces, etc.

As a result, it has supported a number of businesses and production facilities to stably consume products every year, such as: Nghe An Clean Vegetable Company with about 7,000 tons of vegetables, tubers, fruits of all kinds, 300-400 tons of aquatic and seafood products with distribution areas up to 45 provinces and cities in the country; Pu Mat Medicinal Materials Joint Stock Company consumed 120,000 product boxes, distributed to 120 agents/36 provinces and cities in the country; 3 veal ham establishments (Minh Hien, Duc Tuan, Chung Tai) stably consumed 200-250 tons of finished products, distributed mainly in provinces from the Central and Northern regions through e-commerce platforms, Facebook; Binh An Agricultural Service Cooperative consumed 15-20 tons of finished turmeric starch and tapioca starch products, distributed mainly to 30 agents/18 provinces and cities in the Northern region; Luong Son rice paper production facility consumes 8.0 - 10 million products, distributed to 300 agents/30 provinces and cities; Hoang Nhat Phat Company Limited consumes 50,000-60,000 products, distributed mainly to 40 large and small agents/15 provinces and cities...

Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said: In the coming time, to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities, the Department of Industry and Trade will strengthen the supply - demand connection activities, expand the agricultural product consumption market, focus on exploiting the domestic market well. Promote propaganda, guide businesses to promote advantages from new generation free trade agreements, to expand export and import markets, diversify partners and goods sources; Prioritize export promotion activities in industries with strengths, high added value and new export items. At the same time, deploy a variety of trade promotion forms effectively, suitable for each industry, market, and supported object. Guide and support businesses to proactively participate in the deep processing value chain with certified, branded, high value-added goods.

Effectively deploy information technology platforms applied to trade promotion activities to meet the requirements of trade promotion activities in the new situation, improve competitiveness. Implement new forms of trade promotion through the network environment, digital transformation, effectively participate in the digital trade promotion ecosystem”, the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade emphasized.

In 2024, the total retail sales of goods are estimated to reach 110,000 billion VND; the average annual growth rate in the 2021-2024 period will reach 12.58% of the congress target; in the 2021-2025 period: 11-12%/year.
