Nghe An attends the summit of 3 countries and 9 provinces of Vietnam - Laos - Thailand

The activity took place on September 26, within the framework of cooperation between Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces (Vietnam), Bolikhamxay and Khammouane (Laos), Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Noong Khai and Bung Can (Thailand).

Also attending the Conference was Mr. Tanee Sangrat - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam.

At the Conference, the delegations listened to reports on the results of cooperation between 9 provinces in implementing the contents of the Minutes of the 21st Summit held in Nakhon Phanom Province, Thailand in January 2018 in the fields of education and training, trade and investment, science and technology, agriculture, transportation, tourism, culture and sports.

In Nghe An alone, there are currently about 90 enterprises of the province directly investing and doing business in Lao provinces with a total investment capital of about 200 million USD. The investment and business fields include: mineral exploitation, hydropower, wood processing and trading, wine production, construction steel production and trading, forest planting and exploitation, tourism, small truck business, agricultural and aquatic products business, consumer goods, information and communication, etc.

There are 12 FDI projects from Thailand operating in Nghe An province with a total registered investment capital of 228.21 million USD, including the following fields: seafood processing, food and beverage processing, education - training, trade, services, investment, and industrial park infrastructure business.

In the field of education and training, in the 2018-2019 school year, Nghe An province received 15 students and 5 staff to study Vietnamese, 17 university students, 1 staff to train for a master's degree for Bolikhamxay province and 1 student to study from college to university; 15 students to study Vietnamese, 10 university students for Khammouane province.

In order to promote increasingly close and effective cooperation in the coming time, delegates from the provinces recommended continuing to implement cooperation contents in various fields.

The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation, assistance, training and exchange in education and human resource training; cultural and artistic exchanges and sports competitions; encourage cooperation in science and technology in the fields of agriculture, livestock and aquaculture; encourage tourism development; create favorable conditions for investors to survey and invest in the region of 9 provinces of 3 countries.

The cooperation between 9 provinces of 3 countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using Highway 8 and Highway 12 in recent times has contributed to enhancing the friendly relationship between the 3 countries, promoting the socio-economic development of each province, of the whole region, contributing to building a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN community.
